Mark Distribution

Dhaka University admission authority changes their existing admission marks distribution. They reduce MCQ & CGPA marks and increase written exam marks. According to the new marks distribution, 60 marks for MCQ test, 40 marks for the written test.

Requirement

Candidate must have passed SSC or equivalent examination between 2018 and 2021. Only those who have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination of 2023 can apply. Different units require different qualifications to apply for the entrance exam.

Science Unit

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary and IGCSE/O Level and IAL/GCE A Level Examinations in Science and Madrasa Education Board Science Branches and equivalent GPA (including 4th subject) in Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (including 4th subject) with minimum GPA of 8.00 (Secondary/ have minimum 3.5 in equivalent and higher secondary/equivalent examinations separately) can apply for admission. However, students of higher secondary and madrasa education board of humanities and commerce branches can also apply for admission in this unit. In that case, the student must have a GPA of minimum 7.5 (separately minimum 3.0) obtained in secondary and higher secondary or equivalent examination (including 4th subject).

Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit

Candidates who have passed Alim and IGCSE/O Level and IAL/GCE A Level examinations in Humanities of Higher Secondary Board and General Branch of Madrasa Education Board and have GPA-sum of minimum 7.5 (Secondary/ have minimum 3.0 in equivalent and higher secondary/equivalent examinations separately) can apply for admission. However, science and commerce students of Higher Secondary and Madrasa Education Board can also apply for admission in this unit. In that case, the sum of the GPA obtained by the student in the secondary and higher secondary or equivalent examination (including 4th subject) should be minimum 8.0 (minimum 3.5 separately) for science stream and minimum 7.5 (minimum 3.0 separately) for commerce stream.

Business Education Unit

Candidates who have passed IGCSE/O Level and IAL/GCE A Level Examinations in Business Education Branch of Board of Higher Secondary Education and have minimum GPA-sum of 7.5 (in Secondary/Equivalent and Higher Secondary/Equivalent Examinations) in Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (including 4th subject) separately must have a minimum of 3.00) can apply for admission. However, science and humanities students of Higher Secondary and Madrasa Education Board can also apply for admission in this unit. In that case, the student must have a minimum GPA of 8.0 (minimum 3.5 separately) and minimum 7.5 (minimum 3.0 separately) for humanities in the secondary and higher secondary or equivalent examination (including 4th subject).

Fine Arts Unit

Candidates who have passed any branch of secondary and higher secondary or equivalent examination must have minimum GPA-sum of 6.5 in secondary and higher secondary/equivalent examination (including 4th subject) (minimum 3.0 in secondary/equivalent and higher secondary/equivalent examination separately) ).

The admission test will be of 100 marks. MCQ exam marks have been changed to 60. On the other hand, the total marks of the written exam will be 40. The total duration of the admission test is fixed at 1.30 hours. 45 minutes will be allotted separately for MCQ and written test.

About DU

On the first day of July 1921 the University of Dhaka opened its doors to students with Sir P.J. Hartog as the first Vice-Chancellor of the University. The University was set up in a picturesque part of the city known as Ramna on 600 acres of land.

The University started its activities with 3 Faculties,12 Departments, 60 teachers, 877 students and 3 dormitories (Halls of Residence) for the students. At present the University consists of 13 Faculties, 83 Departments, 12 Institutes, 20 residential halls, 3 hostels and more than 56 Research Centres. The number of students and teachers has risen to about 37018 and 1992 respectively. The University of Dhaka is dedicated to the advancement of learning, and is committed to promoting research in all fields of knowledge. As there are plans for further expansion of facilities, plans for new avenues and opportunities, the course curricula are updated and new research projects are undertaken every year.
